What is your role at LJTP(describe in more detail than just the title)?
I very recently transitioned from Sourcing Specialist to Operations Coordinator. In my new role, I work very closely with and support our Operations Manager with the day-to-day business operations of LJTP, including client invoicing, account reconciliation, and general back-end office support.
What did you do prior to joining LJTP?
Prior to LJTP, I spent seven years as a teacher in grades K-2. I left the classroom last year after having my first child. Before teaching–right out of college–I worked in HR and had various HR Coordinator and Executive Assistant roles.
What drew you to LJTP originally? And how has LJTP changed since?
I originally received a blind email from Tim last fall. At the time, I was a stay-at-home mom to my infant daughter. While I love being at home, I had a desire to get back into the workplace on a super part-time basis to keep my skills sharp and have adult interactions–both socially and professionally–while helping a growing company. I was only willing to go back to work for the right opportunity, and this was it! Right around the time I was hired (April 2019) LJTP went on a hiring spree, and the week after I started, so did about 4 or 5 other people. Since then, we have more than doubled in size!
What is your favorite part about working at LJTP?
I love the work/life flexibility and remote environment that LJTP provides me. I get to stay at home with my daughter AND fulfill my desire to work. We all have families and responsibilities outside of the workplace, which is understood and accepted by everyone at all levels. Since becoming a mom, this is something that I value tremendously in the workplace. LJTP allows me to add to my life and family without feeling like I’m compromising or choosing one over the other. Since recently moving to the operations side of things, I am learning a lot more about the back-end of how the business runs which is amazing to be a part of, and will be even more so as we continue to grow!
What is the most challenging part of your job?
While having flexibility is the best part, it can also be the most challenging. You have to be intentional with your time about when/how you work. Additionally, the remote environment can make it more challenging to get answers to quick questions since you can’t just walk over to someone’s desk and ask them.
How has LJTP helped you grow personally and professionally?
I’ve only been working at LJTP for 4.5 months, but working here has reinforced that I still can be successful in a professional/corporate setting after being in the classroom for so long. Additionally, it has introduced me to some great people. Working at LJTP has also made me a better mom at home since I have to be more intentional about my time and how it’s spent. Before I started working at LJTP, my time was pretty much infinite, which can be a blessing and a curse.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
When I’m not working, I enjoy chasing around my toddler, spending time with my family and friends, going to Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin, and rooting for the Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues!
