What is your role at LJTP?
I am a Director of Client Delivery at LJTP. I oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring our team’s needs are being met, and that we are delivering a quality service to our customers.

What did you do prior to joining LJTP?
I worked for one of the largest contract labor providers in the industry for more than 10 years, the last 4 of which were spent leading their support of the United States Navy. Our team would align with defense contractors to bid on government funded programs, and then once awarded, provide personnel with various disciplines to help design, build, maintain, repair, and modernize surface ships and submarines all
across the United States.

What drew you to LJTP originally? And how has LJTP changed since?
Initially, what drew me to LJTP was our founder, Tim Schumm. There are few business people I hold in higher regard than Tim, and the opportunity to work with him again was difficult to pass up. As I learned more about the firm’s flex-team model and began meeting the other incredibly talented people on our team, it became a no-brainer. We have experienced significant growth since I joined the team, so a lot has changed in a short amount of time, but it’s been a great experience.

What is your favorite part about working at LJTP?
Aside from the people & culture, which are both phenomenal, it would have to be our recruiting model itself. Lucas James Talent Partners is not just another staffing firm, but rather a disruptor in the industry. We’re providing a solution that, in my experience, just doesn’t exist in the marketplace for small/mid-market companies.

What is the most challenging part of your job?
Just how many variables have to be taken into consideration with every decision we make. Due to the flexible nature of our model, there are a lot of moving pieces from week to week, and trying to ensure that every opportunity has the appropriate resources tied to it can be difficult at times. There isn’t a playbook telling us how to manage this type of delivery model, so we’re writing it every day.

How has LJTP helped you grow personally and professionally?
In my previous role, I was traveling a lot. The remote nature of Lucas James Talent Partners has allowed me a ton of opportunity to grow as a husband and father by being there for my family every single day. From a professional standpoint, LJTP has given me the opportunity to look at the business on a more macro-level. It’s no longer about building my portfolio/territory of business, but instead growing a business
holistically. Coming from such a large well-established organization, it’s a great feeling to have a hand in shaping the strategic direction for a company in its early stages.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I am a passionate Chicago sports fan, so watching or attending sporting events has always been one of my favorite things to do. When I’m not working though, it’s safe to say most everything revolves around spending time with my wife, Ashley, and two children, Riley & Ryne.
