What is your role at LJTP (describe in more detail than just the title)?

I am a Talent Acquisition Consultant. I source and screen candidates for technical roles based on our clients’ needs and walk them through the entire interview process until an offer is made.

What did you do prior to joining LJTP?

Prior to LJTP, I was working as a Principal Recruiter for a staffing agency focused on technical recruiting. In that role, not only did I recruit technical contractors for roles, but I also grew the contract recruiting team, trained them, and focused on leading the charge on delivering quality candidates to the clients.

What drew you to LJTP originally? And how has LJTP changed since?

Initially, I was drawn to LJTP as it is a work-from-home opportunity. I’m able to provide for my family in the following ways: financially, physically, and emotionally any time day or night (I couldn’t do that working in an office). I am also now able to focus on my own mental and physical health as I can give myself more time instead of using that time to commute. This has helped to keep my stress levels down significantly and I am just happier in general.

What is your favorite part about working at LJTP?

The culture at LJTP is like nothing else I’ve experienced. While we are all working from home, it doesn’t feel like we are alone. I have gained new friendships with people I would have never had the opportunity to meet if it weren’t for LJTP. The collaboration and team atmosphere of this company are out of this world even though we are thousands of miles apart. This is really a TEAM culture, not a cutthroat/competitive environment like the one I came from. I couldn’t be more thankful.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

Finding the exact candidates my client is looking for. When I think I have the requirements nailed down, they change some aspect of it, and then I must start over from the beginning. But that is also what makes it interesting. If recruiting were easy, everyone would do it. If it were boring, nobody would do it. While it’s challenging, it is also what makes it spicy enough to keep pushing through until you find the person that gets the offer. The offer stage is the most rewarding piece because you know you’ve made an impact on the client, the company, and the candidates’ lives.

How has LJTP helped you grow personally and professionally?

Professionally, I have been pushed out of my comfort zone. Going from working in an office 40 hours/week to working from home was an adjustment. Also, I have never been too confident about my sourcing game, being responsible for not only screening, but all of my own sourcing has helped me realize I can do more than what I was used to doing and still be successful. Personally, I am learning more about myself and my own grit to not give up when the going gets tough. I have also learned that there are so many people on the team here to help and I don’t have to do it all on my own. I have learned that it isn’t just me, which helps with stress and mental health.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

I enjoy working out, playing with my puppy, taking my kids to the park, going for walks with my husband, baking, working on cars, and playing video games.
